Old District 10 Schoolhouse.
Dec. 5th, 2015 04:27 am
When I first saw this place in the late 1960's it was a residence. Legend had it that the old caretaker was the occupant. The building has been unused since the early 70's and will likely come down someday - no one can think what to do with it. There is a second schoolhouse no more than a mile away as the crow flies. It's in better shape, still has a bell tower and is used for various functions; I was in it once to give blood.

Oct. 13th, 2015 02:56 pmFor various personal reasons I have not been posting many photos. So now I have a backlog that i'm just going to start throwing out there. I encourage you to ignore them because, frankly I haven't been taking care of my reciprocal end of the bargain; i'm not reading much of what others are posting.

"The Realm of the Oracle" Varujan Boghosian - 1989, Toledo Museum of Art.
I was drawn to this as soon as I saw it, but was mildly disappointed when I checked the museum catalog and found out that the case it's in isn't part of the work.

Remains of the barn where my mother lives; looks like they are trying to set up some sort of outdoor sitting area for the seniors - who can make it over here. Well, they didn't sell the stones at least. I'm sure a fortune could have been made off them. It seems smaller inside than it did outside.

Part of a iron hinge driven into the stone.

What the barn looked like in 2013.

Some weeks ago i almost drove into and, never came out of this chuck hole*. However, as i swerved, i noticed the bricks and came back and took a picture the next day. A true photographer has to put aside the "what do people think i'm doing in the middle of the road with a camera? sensation". I never quite get there, i'm self conscious; that's why my best shots are in the woods.
* Chuck holes, no one calls them chuck holes anymore; too unsophisticated? Now it's pot holes, i feel like 'pot holes' came from a New York consulting firm. There's no logic to pot hole, how did a pot make a hole? (Wood)chucks can make holes.
On Wallace Lake, temp 16F.

Snowed again last night, i don't know what happened, until three weeks ago we were having a mild winter. Now it's a different game. Yesterday was messy with temps close to thirty and lots of wet snow. I got out of work at 3:30 AM and it was colder (20') and had snowed several more inches. I got up at 7 AM to clear the drive so #1daughter&son can get out the drive - 'harry has left an hour earlier but her vehicle can get through it - but by now the temperature has dropped to 3'! So I saw a sunrise for the first time in a long time, i didn't evaporate or anything; it was nice.
But the pictures i wanted to show ( are here: )
